New job, new plans moving forward • Backlog and refunds
_________
This time my update has an accompanying illustration :D because I just couldn't help myself. Deal with it. uwu
A lot has happened, and this new job changes everything :o
Some of you may recall when I previously mentioned I had secured an on-call substitute dishwashing position, earlier this year.
I don’t have much time to write up a huge detailed explanation of what series of events occurred that lead up to this, so I’ll get straight to the point.
I’m now a full time baker where I started as an on-call dishwasher \o/
This means I am pretty much (for now) totally done accepting ANY new commission work.
The work in my queue that I’ve already started, I will finish.
Everything I haven’t started, including that eternal backlog (http://www.curiodraco.net/the-backlog-situation.html needs to be updated with recent developments, but still details how I got into this mess), I’m going to start refunding within the next few months.
Having been forced to move so many times previously, it put me in a difficult position where I still had recurring expenses to pay every month, but not enough time to address both new work and old work, as the time I’d have used for the older work was eaten up by the time and expenses involved in moving. So I’ve been in an endless game of catch-up basically ever since I moved out here about 4 years ago :/
Now with this new job, my plan moving forward is to first pay off my self employment taxes from the last 2 years (seriously, the IRS is sending me grumpy letters, something about levying property (that I don’t even own lol good luck with that) and pretty much want my head on a platter if I don’t pay up soon) and then pay off the bankruptcy fees so I can get a clean start on all that crap, and then start paying back unstarted work since I definitely will not have time to do anything with it.
Once I’ve shoo’d all the skeletons from my closet, I’ll be comfortable with posting my work again and you’ll see a lot more activity from me x3 I’ve done a LOT of art work, I just never post because .. well. complicated reasons :/ But things are changing, finally moving towards something reliable and getting my damn life back. I’m not out of the woods yet, but I at least found the path that will get me there. It just takes time.
I'll be open for new work again in the future, probably early-ish next year if all goes well. I'll be completely restructuring how I run commissions, so expect a lot of changes.
There's a lot more that's been going on lately, I just don't have the time to get in to all of it.
Thank you everyone for your enduring patience ♥
