I think the default sketching style of a person is always the same, but it shows the most when drawing quickly without thinking or planning too much, which is what happens at conventions. New stuff learned makes the drawing style drift and change as you struggle to fix new things in memory and understand mechanics you never paid attention before. But once the stuff is learned it's natural that the style drifts back towards the true personal taste. So what you notice is probably true and it happened "automatically". Lately I've been trying to get rid of some bad habits I've picked up while studying, like relying too much on thumbnail sketches and drawing difficult parts such as the head on a separate sheet. This means drawing all the figure at once and accepting that some details of the anatomy and proportions will be off, which is in fact how I used to do. Though hopefully they will be less off now that I've deep-learned a few things. X-D
It also helps that I've figured out which kind of backgrounds I like to draw (when present). I just gave up on correct perspective: when interiors or items are involved, a frontal view on the background in the spirit of Middle Age art, Gauguin and Wes Anderson is the way to go for me. And lots of drapery which is really fun to paint.
