So it was my birthday just shy of two weeks ago and I planned to do some kind of birthday pic to celebrate, but instead I decided to finish this sketch I had laying around, and make a few changes to it to be in the theme of birthdays.
Dragon guy, always taking things for face value, gets a real surprise when he finds out that it wasn't just an empty box after all... Happy Birthday Ass!

Ah, now that's a shame. Betrayed and robbed of his dragon self, retaining only his horns so everyone can humiliate him for being TF'd. And on his birthday, what nerve! Though I suppose transformation from an ass box is a gag that doesn't last forever.
You handled the transition very well. The subtle change in color is really effective; it's what drew me to the image.
Happy belated birthday, btw!

Thanks for the comment. I do try to keep experimenting with ways I can illustrate a transition. Humiliation was my aim, so keeping the horns and other identifiers were keys.
Who said that the gag doesn't last? The party isn't over and the birthday boy hasn't had his cake yet! >;3
Thanks! I'm a little drunk, so forgive any grammar or spelling mistakes.

Cake? With his friends, I'm afraid to ask. Well, if his TF lasts I can always send him my "hidden dragon" box next year.
Another thing I like about this TF is the handling of expressions. His initial surprise turning to shock and ending in dismay and revulsion is rendered most effectively, but I also like the 3rd cell where he's unhappily indicating the emptiness of the ass box. You can practically hear him saying "You brought me... an empty box... for my birthday"? His hands are just as expressive as his face, and it really adds to feeling for this poor guy.
All of this is expressed and you did it without words. That's part of what makes it such engaging art, even if I feel sorry for the dragon.
...I never thought I would take that much from a picture of a dragon getting an ass box.
