Hey everyone! This is my kitty cat, Soot. She's a 14 year old smoke-colored Egyptian Mau and I've had her since she was a little kitten. Earlier this year she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This means her thyroid cells change and work extra hard for no good reason. This increases her metabolism, causing weight loss, among other nasty things. There are medicines to control this condition, but she is one of few cats that has a negative reaction to them, so I have to find alternative treatment options. After some research, I've decided on the radioactive iodine-131 therapy. It is an expensive treatment, but it is highly successful after a single treatment. I am a full time student in a veterinary technician program and can only work part time till I've graduated, so I've opened up a GoFundMe for her to help raise the money to get the radioactive iodine-131 treatment done.
I have set the date for her treatment for November 30th.
As I am asking for help, I feel everyone is entitled to know the breakdown of her vet bills.
Her initial visit for her thyroid scan, x-rays and physical exam came to $525 and I've paid for that with what I've already raised.
The treatment scheduled for the 30th will be $1120 - $1160 and that will cover the radioactive iodine injection, two more x-rays and five days of boarding.
After her treatment and five day stay, she will be going to a boarding facility that has agreed to keep her for fourteen days until she is clear of the radiation which could roughly fall around $440 - $500.
I know this puts me over my goal, but I didn't want to rely entirely on this fundraiser. I am trying to pick up extra hours where I can to help.
I truly appreciate the help of anyone that would donate or share her story.

I understand she is an older cat, but she is my cat. I got her in middle school and she is the oldest cat I've ever had.

I wish I could, but currently I'm trying to get help for my neighbor. He is blind, with failing kidneys and in a wheelchair. His service dog Roxanne has bone cancer and has to be put down and they have to pay for everything.
The most I can do is spread the word ^^'''
I hope that helps
