Okay so I promised myself that when I took on this Christmas-Gift "challenge" that I wouldn't upload WIPs. I broke that somewhat with halopromise's gift by showing her a half-finished drawing because I couldn't resist, and completely broke that here with tiny-grim's drawing xD

So two of my picked gift-receivers I can confirm really love the game Dino D-Day. So, I decided to make their gifts relevant to that :>
Although the only DDD-related thing here is my micro character Vesper hehe ^^; Still counts I think?

Because Vesper enjoys doing things like reading and playing chess and so on when she's not playing DDD with her friends (and Claw), I thought it'd be fun to portray that here in this - Vesper having a game with tiny-grim's character Jay.


For the chess game I opened up Chessmaster 9000 (anyone remember that game? XD) and played a few rounds against an Intermediate AI. I got completely thrashed since it's been years since I've played an actual game of chess, so lowered the difficulty a bit, and got thrashed again. Finally I just played a "hotseat" game against myself and played half a game, then took a screenshot of it. I used that as a base when setting up a 3D model and arranged the pieces to match it, then rendered that out to use as reference while drawing the game here.

I need to get a proper reference of Vesper too. I totally failed with her feather markings, which I swear change drastically every time I draw her. Also, I found that I can't bird very well. x___x
