Neo's First Steps--In Memorium
A special commission for
Neo. In the words of his friend Damien:
"Titled "first steps" this piece was commissioned in memory of our friend Corey Dean Abernathy who recently passed away. (he's the one with the little dragon wings)
those of you who know corey, he was disabled, and wheel-chair bound. his mother Deanna Abernathy was telling me how he was finally free, and probably up there, running around as much as possible.
this picture was created as a way of keeping his character alive through artwork, and in memory. and so, he takes his first steps, into the arms of his loving mate Alex Wulf, no longer bound by his disability, and surrounded by his closest friends as they sit around to support him.
i would like to thank alex for making this happen, as well as all the friends involved for pitching in."

Death wants,
Death takes,
Death makes no mistakes.
Death doesn't care,
but Death is aware.
Death knows, though, who in this world is needed,
who is important, or wanted, or begged for, or pleaded.
Death also knows that some are too good for this world,
that's why Death takes the best of this world.

I've taken some time to collect my thoughts, and myself. seeing this finished produced emotional responses across the board, and for all of those involved.
i would like to thank you for making this come true, and that this will be the first of many, it is Alex's intention to keep him alive through artworks, and i will gladly help him do that.
i thank you all on behalf of alex and neos family and friends, for taking the time to enjoy this, and share your kind words. this has not been an easy time for those involved, but rest assured seeing this put a smile on all of our faces.

I don't know if anyone is big on faith stuff, but there are two songs I think would go great for a piece like this: Fly Away by Jars of Clay (Always brings me to tears), and I am free, by the promise keepers. Either of those, I could see being a song to compliment the art. Marci, as always incredible work, and I so need to commission you, when able to.
Thank you Marci so much this has been the hardest thing I've ever had to go through saying goodbye to my sweetheart, neo had a heart of gold and always put others needs above his own right up until the very end always willing to listen and help out friends family and even complete strangers, dispite his disability. It's been a hard 2 weeks and I know he always wanted a commission from you, a few months ago before he passed he did ask me to keep having commissions done to remember him and you honored his memory so well Marci it means the world to me, seeing this picture brought me tears, not tears of sadness but tears of joy knowing my wonderful little angel is smiling down apon me and all his loving friends knowing how many people loved and cared about him you have helped make this hard time in my life, in many people's lives a little bit easier knowing he will always be with us, whether it be in spirit, or in his fursona, his legacy will live on forever until the day I die <3 so again from the bottom of my heart...thank you...thank you so much
