A tiger-stripe attired medic takes a break next to her Motor Scout. The Motor Scout, designed and created by Frederick Richard Simms in 1898, is considered the first fuel powered, armed vehicle to be built. It was a quadricycle powered by a 1.5hp Simms built engine with enough fuel to travel 120 miles. For a weapon, it was armed with a Maxim Mk.IV machine-gun with 1,000 rounds of ammunition available. Protection came only from the armored shield for the machine-gun.
