Long ago, there were 8 heroes that fought against the evils of this world. They were incredibly powerful, but unfortunately, they weren't powerful enough to stop it. Luckily, they found artifacts that would give their souls enough energy to be able to reincarnate indefinitely until they were able to defeat the evil that plagued this world. They called themselves the Spectrum Guardians, and this is their 8th incarnation.

The Vanguard is the title given to the Guardian of Water and Knowledge. The Vanguard helps lead the way with his developments or ideas, and is actually at the forefront of many battles to act as a defender and support. The Vanguard is always at least 5 steps in front of the enemy.

The Vanguard's power consists of water manipulation, which he can use to drown opponents in tsunami waves or use it to heal wounded allies. The Vanguard also has the ability to walk on water, allowing him a moment to breathe if the enemy cannot get to him/her. The Vanguard can also predict the future with the power of his soul, and is able to pull knowledge from many different sources, hence why he/she is able to stay ahead of the enemy long enough.

The Vanguard has many weakness, however, compared to The Sage. The Vanguard almost always has the least experience in warfare out of any of the Guardians, and though water manipulation is extremely potent when used efficiently, the Vanguard lacks full control over it.

The Vanguard makes up for this with his incredible healing power, as it is able to heal grave injuries and even some incurable diseases in just a fraction of the time, though depending on the severity of the wound it may take a toll on him. The Vanguard is also quite the support unit, he can use his water manipulation both offensively and defensively, something The Sage can't do.

All of the Guardians have a unique trait, in which that since their souls are so powerful, the color of their soul leaks into all the clothes they wear in a phenomenon known as "color radiation", in which the souls radiate so much energy that it literally changes how light gets absorbed or reflected off of their clothing somehow. If the soul becomes powerful enough, it can even change the color of their blood and the color of their shadow. This makes every single Guardian an eyesore to look at, so in order to prevent this, many citizens adopted the mono-color fashion style to make it harder for the Guardians to be pinpointed.

The Vanguard is wearing Mountain Scale Armor, 山文凱, it covered most of the vital organs while still being flexible enough to be able to move in it.

The weapon the Vanguard uses is a Guan Dao (關刀) also called a Yan Yue Dao (偃月刀), it's a polearm that is comparable to a European glaive. Due to it's weight, the polearm is often used as a way to train the body.
