well he was in a war between the rebels , the rebels is a group that consist of human and beastman who want to release people in the dome , the dome is where all the "illegal" beastman is being patch , illegal means that the beastman is created not by birth but by fusing both animal and human gene , so the point is that vald as the most strongest member and also the captain of the front group army he choose to keep fighting forward since the rebels group he fight is doesn't have many men in it so he think that the rebels group is out numbered but then it was just a trick , there was more of the rebels that come from behind and make vald army out numbered , because of that all of the of the vald army has been killed except for vald and his one last army which is a tiger he tried to protect him so much because he don't want more people in his group being killed but in the end the tiger itself sacrifice himself for his captain , the tigger use his body to cover vald body from the bullet and cause the tiger killed vald was shocked and not ready for this to happen , he was cried in the middle of a war , he tried to stop but he can't,one of the rebels aimed for his head but then something come out in his mind "erase pain..WITH MORE PAIN" and then he take a knife and slash his own left eye and rampage in the war with his gun and he somehow manage to survive and win the war with one eye got slashed
