My submission to tricky chimera's story contest. It takes place in a world I'm still shaping out and it's based off my fear of madness I developed after reading way too much Poe growing up. It mainly deals with scary book/movie style madness that isn't very real. I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, it's just what inspired me at the moment. Fave and comment! That's how I do better in the contest! And go to
trickychimera to look at other stories! My network crashed and it was very hard to upload this. Happy Halloween!
There are some grammatical errors and punctuation errors in it which I will fix later.

1) So glad to have someone else participating this year.
2) Welp, I finally got the time to read your story and yep. It deserves the points. And that twist… whoo-boy. I'll admit I was a bit worried as it reminded me of a Steven King style near the middle, but it captured the chaos of a psychadelic encounter. What is real? The world may never know. And the setting of the world really helped to sell it too. I mean, a world where horror already was a normal thing, but even they have their own "monsters in the closet". I loved it. It was hard to read at first, but I got used to it. After this contest, I do hope you expand this world.
3) And honestly, it goes without saying that it's better than mine or Tricky's. Then again that is just my opinion so far.

Wow! Thanks! I read this and I was all blushing and stuff. I appreciate your analysis - Stephen King is actually one of my creative role-models but I know that his style isn't everyone's thing - it was a bit difficult avoiding that style because that's the kind I've developed over time - heh - sorry if it was confusing but I'm glad you were able to read it all the way through. I'll go through and correct the grammatical errors when the contest is officially over.
I actually didn't read you guys' all the way through but they look interesting. I'm sure they're great!

Personally, I'm more inspired by R.L.Stine and Edgar Allen Poe myself. They're the ones I grew up with. It's why most of my own stories are so childish, I think.
No real problem with reading it after I got used to it. Believe me, I've seen worse. Like some stories where they had random "?" scattered throughout instead of quotation marks. Now, those are hard to read.
*crosees fingers* Here's to hoping to getting second place for me. I wont get a trophy, but at least I'd still beat Tricky this year.

Oh yeah! I like those guys too. I was inspired to write it because of my phobia of madness resulting from reading too much Poe XP. Blackwall Asylum as mentioned in the story is based off a Poe story called Stonehearst Asylum. I know what its about and i really wanna try it but I can't read it because it will keep me up all night O.O
Second place is good

sorry Stonehearst Asylum is the name of the spinoff movie. the story is The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether. In either case I wont spoil it for you (you seem like you'd like the movie better. It sounds more gruesome 0.0) There's a lot of physical abuse/violence via electroshock, homicidally insane people, paranoia and patients being used as lab rats for weird stuff.
