Normally Scooby and the gang don’t have trouble dealing with pesky monsters before they pull back the mask, but this time around, the monster broke free from Fred’s trap in some inexplicable manner, forcing everyone to split up to find it. The monster escaping, the group agreed to split up: scooby and shaggy the north hall, the rest in the south hall. Before setting out, it became clear Fred was too distraught by the failure of his foolproof plan, frantically trying to reset and improve his failed masterwork, leaving Velma and Daphne to try and hunt down the monster on their own once more. After a bit of exploration, they soon found an odd amulet on a table, an obvious clue to the case of the missing monster. Daphne made note of the strange tag labeling the amulet, but Velma was quick to disregard the warnings, finding more value in better examining the clue than in obeying some criminal’s notes. As she pressed and prodded the amulet, she quickly felt a strange force overtake her.
The pair’s eyes widened in shock as they could feel their bodies stiffen, acting out of their control. Hobbling desperately, the pair tried to keep themselves from moving, but little would stop them as Velma set the amulet back down on the table. The two then begun to climb on top of its surface, awkwardly taking up massive space. Daphne soon curled into a fetal position, as Velma, distraught, begun to outstretch herself, somehow balancing in an extravagantly backbreaking position. Space quickly ceased to be an issue as the world around them seemed to grow at an alarming rate… until the pair glanced at each other, the realization of shrinkage kicking in, the luminescence from the amulet blinding them; the pair could feel their bodies twisting and contorting.
Velma’s legs begun to fuse, as her feet billowed out in all directions, reshaping into a smooth conical base, holding her upright. Its unnerving balance was followed by a numbness quickly rushing through, a sheen shredding her clothes as her body begun to take a golden hue; gems growing in various places, adorning her decoratively. The numbness was soon followed by an odd weight pushing down on her back, a large, clear glass forming in order to be her weight to bear. A cool chill ran down her spine as an iced ale begun to coalesce in the glass, leaving her as an opulent chalice for someone to drink from. Daphne was not spared a strange fate, her body’s proportions shifting, minimizing the scale of her body while emphasizing her head. Her features continued to stiffen as her hair became solid, forming a painted metallic sheen. The crest of her hair would not be untouched, as soon it hollowed, a tall glass rapidly climbing upwards growing from it. From seemingly nowhere, the innards filled with water, pink wax seeping from the center base into the chamber, cementing her transmogrification into a mere lava lamp.
Deep inside the new ornaments that were once the fairer of the mystery crew, thought fulminated that they would never have dreamed of thinking of. Velma’s mind filled with thoughts of greed, obsessing over how rich and valuable she must be; beaming with pride as her thoughts became stuck on the thought of how wealthy one who owned her would be. On the other end, the metallic base that bore Daphne’s likeness thought nothing, her consciousness instead entrapped in the mass of waxy goo bearing her looks that now split and blended inside the clear chamber, left to float and swirl in a loop of meaningless thought; an eternal trip.
The two items rested on the table quietly for hours. left to sit in isolation. The lack of presence of a monster disappointed Fred, but was a relief to his partner Shaggy and his dog Scooby as they returned to the mystery machine in hopes of finding the missing monster elsewhere. The disappointment was punctuated with the confusion regarding a stray purse and books that seemed to be left in the mystery machine. They were the only three who used the mystery machine for a long while, so why did they have this random clutter in their van? Tonight's bust was too much to bother worrying about such trivialities. With the disappointment of the night, they simply left, leaving behind the most important things: The cursed clues that was all that remained of the now faded memories of nonexistent friends.
