My first full-length novel, Kismet, will be published by Argyll Productions in mid-January 2017. (The tentative release date is the 17th.) The terrific cover artwork is by
blackteagan -- and there's going to be an alternate cover coming later! (This is the more "mainstream" cover; the next one will be more visibly furry.)
The River: a hodgepodge of arcologies and platforms in a band around Ceres full of dreamers, utopians, corporatists—and transformed humans, from those with simple biomods to the exotic alien xenos and the totemics, remade with animal aspects. Gail Simmons, an itinerant salvor living aboard her ship Kismet, has docked everywhere totemics like her are welcome...and a few places they're not.
But when she's accused of stealing a databox from a mysterious wreck, Gail lands in the crosshairs of corporations, governments and anti-totemic terrorists. Finding the real thieves is the easy part. To get her life back, Gail will have to face her past—and what's at stake may be more than just her future.
Kismet takes place about ten years after the short story "Tow" and shares the same protagonist. While I aimed for a hard science fiction feel, it's a character-driven story about identity, transhumanism and what defines home. It came out of the CSSF Novel Writers Workshop, a residential workshop at the University of Kansas led by Kij Johnson. So it has a pretty good pedigree.
I'm planning to serialize the first four chapters as a preview starting later this month here on FA as well as on Coyote Prints.

Thank you. :) I think what's going to happen is that FurPlanet and Bad Dog Books will get the furry cover and Argyll will get this cover, which will be what goes to Amazon and all the ebook stores. (Argyll is the parent company of FurPlanet and Bad Dog; they don't use it Argyll as an imprint too often but they're trying to get more "crossover" books going, and Kismet is the first one, along with a fantasy series from Tim Susman that will be launched later in the year.)
As posted, my copy of 'Kismet' was received on November 7th, and it had this cover (which was also the 'album art' on the Amazon.ca page; Argyll-version and imprint). I won't ever not enjoy the Full-Gail picture that would come on the Furplanet cover, but I'm very fond of the one that's on mine, no less. ^_^ And this will be my NoVemBRead book to be finished reading prior to the end of the month, good sir! :)

# I had a question for you, Watts: is 'Raneahedros' pronounced phonetically 'Rawn-aEHD-rhosse', or similarly so? I still have to get it into my head that 'Ranea' is its resident's moniker as we would call ours 'Earth' rather than 'Planet Earth' (I think) or short-form slang; a comfortable term of calling rather than a kingly title. Yet, I wonder if the Dersyi (Jemara and Revar's folk, natch) have another word entirely for it, being a mammalian (and not strictly mortal, by origin) race that spends much of their lives, coveting the air they might rule, in the sky in hunting and travelling.

I should really remember to check this more than once a year!
Anyway, I pronounce "Ranea" as ruh-NEE-uh and "Raneadhros" as rah-nee-ED-rowss, even though that means the first syllable has a slightly different pronunciation between the two words (language is like that). Ranea is not the name of the world, though; it's the name of the empire, while Raneadhros is the name of the capital city-state. (I've never come up with a name for the planet.)

Is all gut! ^_^ 2Paw is very happy to be in touch with you either way, and thank you for posting him back.
Ranea (ruh-NEE-uh) the way you've supplied the phonetics is more or less how I've always spoken it in my head (or when Jenora and I have talked about your world and writing work), and I'm just a little off with 'Raneadhros', although the only conditional difference was my assuming 'Ran-' would span to '-Dhros' as a conjugator, removing the emphasis on the 'ea' (A), but in your preference and design this was kept. 'rah-nee-ED-rowss'. I can dig that! At least I can get that right when I'm reading 'A Gift Of Fire, A Gift Of Blood' to myself, when Mika's bargaining for his life or attempting to woo a new ladyfriend. Hee!
I understand entirely about Raneadhros being more like 'The Known World', or Tamriel being one major land mass or continent in the world of The Elder Scrolls; or A Song Of Ice And Fire's 'Westeros', with Pentos and its ghost-grass across the Narrow Sea. It's a world with places left to discover, along with the peoples there (if so), although to be fair the folk that the Ranean Empire encompasses still have a great deal to learn about each other, with the Dersyi included. Or at least some acceptance. Sometimes that's the first step in any tense relationship: a detente or a mutual respect of boundaries.
It really is a pleasant business to know the Giant's Club still has a good grounding-place on F-List. FurryMUCK has been much more of a ghost of its former self, and while I at least stop by the old 'shortcut' (and if it wasn't Jenora that hinted at it, it was almost likely you that did, more than twenty years ago) it's rare I see many if any people in the Giant's Club there. But the memory is never faded, with a lot of those good memories kept close. And you certainly made an effort, despite my frequent 4th-wall-OOC busting, to be terribly patient with this Journeyman Twopaw. :)
Journeys are always good that way. "I came for the sunshine, but stayed for the people." quoth Kane, Master and Prophet of the Brotherhood of Nod (Command & Conquer: Tiberium RTS series). I haven't lost anything, memories included, because I haven't wanted to lose them quite yet.
I'm putting a solid day into 'Kismet' (reading it, that is) this weekend; I shouldn't need to rush it, but I wanted to get started a bit sooner and I've had less time to do that than I'd thought. So that, when it is done, I'll report to you, and more than likely a proper review on your book's Amazon.ca page.

By the way, I wanted to let you know: Jenora will be attending Midwest FurFest, and there she will be debuting her sequel to 'Painting The Cathedral' (named aptly 'Painting The Sky') before posting it here on her FurAffinity account. I don't know if you'd read the original story, but I'm rather fond of it (and of course, Jenora's star-goddess splinter-aspect 'Jade' having a proper equinox dance to go with that). I don't know how many if any conventions you yourself attend now, if at all, but in case you're going you're very likely to meet her there (and I suspect she'll look for you too).
