- Ecco II: Tides of Time -
It's been quite a while since I featured a video game rendition, so I decided to share this one. It's the title theme from "Ecco II: Tides of Time". It originally started as one of my $12 Piano commissions, however the song really caught on and I decided to build upon it somewhat. Some minor differences from the original, but still very simple, I wanted the Piano to lead it, but at the same time have some "swirling" effects on the Pads to create the feeling of water. Some Boy, and TB choirs to cameo/help out too!
Thanks to those that take a listen! The Thumbnail artwork was done by the awesome

Not bad... As a musician and huge oldschool ecco fan, that's the best compliment I can give! </ecco music nazi> It's a little sparse in some parts, but I think the choirs help with that immensely. A few decrescendos happen a little abruptly too, but overall, not bad at all! It definitely caught the Ecco vibe and was a good translation of Heger's original piece.
Would you have any interest in putting this on the Ecco fansite I admin for? You can upload it for yourself if you like. I think the members would really enjoy it too, and most of them aren't furries so they're a little hesitant to come here :X If not, that's perfectly fine too.
Either way, great job!

Having just recently picked up a brand new Sega Genesis from a vintage gaming store, along with all the old sonic games and Ecco: Tides of Time, this has got to be the best song I've run across in a while. It brings back so many memories; this was one of my favorite games on the genesis. Thanks for the nostalgic pleasure~ ;3
Ecco the dolphin is one of my favorite games (and will always be!) and it has extremely beautiful music. In this track you succeeded greatly to capture the soul of Ecco games and "extremely beautiful" are also the words that are perfect to describe this! This is very lovely song in all ways.
Right at 0:23 I keep wanting this to slip into Victor's Theme from Corpse Bride.
Absolutely fantastic piece, the piano leads excellently while the choir and pads do a wonderful job of filling up the sound field. And my God, the cello is such a melancholy touch! This song just... fills the soul. Good work.
My only suggestion has nothing to do with composition (because it's beautiful), but rather with production: it might be a little loud. At first I thought it was abusively loud, and then I realized I had the volume still set for my classical music. This piece is about the same volume, if not actually louder than Garbage's song, "I Think I'm Paranoid", which isn't to it's credit ("I Think I'm Paranoid" is the most abhorrently compressed song I've ever heard). You might try spreading it out a little in the stereo mix, or just bring the overall volume level down. Most of the volume, I think, comes from the pads, which are very strong in the low-end and all-pervasive, but in some of the more intense sequences, the piece starts to hurt unless I turn the volume way down. And with classical style music you're supposed to need to turn the volume up.

A wonderful work that brings to mind and to the imagination what the world under the waves is like. Shafts of sunlight piercing the surface and shimmering along the back of a Dolphin and it glides over the shallow sands of a reef or crossing the edge of the contenental shelf and looking down into an empty space of ever deeper bluer waters. }:=)
This is simply beautiful! I'm a big fan of Ecco and this is just a gem of a find! The music for all the games was so awesome and to hear it played in such a way is just magical. I can no longer imagine this song the way it was in the original. The piano is just too awesome. The quality reminds me of the kind in the Defender of the Future game - especially with that choir.
Going back through your gallery and listening to your songs, I can't get over how absolutely beautiful this is... It sweeps me away... it makes me lean back and close my eyes.. I never played the game, didn't even know about it or the song but gods dammit I am addicted!
This has to be one of my favorite pieces by you! <3

This is just... wow.
I swear,we must get married right now and create classical/techno masterpieces for all eternity your harmonies and variations of melody are actually tear jerking. You've given an already dark theme a deeper, more malevolent sadness that can only be described as a musical gem. Every memory of this game and my childhood was bought back with that piano, and for this I can only say one thing: thankyou.
I swear,
FA+
