This is Omega. This is his head, and rest of the full body suit will soon follow!
This is a refurbishing. The resin cast base, resin jaws, silicon nose and silicon tongue are recycled, but the rest was all replaced. Initially he came in for just new eyes and a zipper, but the client ended up going to a completly new suit. He was bought as a second hand mini partial, so we tried to save what we could for the client.
The Process:
The old head was covered in glue gun. So much glue gun, it was horrible. You can see it peeping out at the nose and everywhere else. I stripped the fur, removed all the gluegun remains (please use a glue specificly for fabrics or bendable items such as BisonTex! Your local crafting store can inform you about all the options, but we love Bisontex and have worked with it for about 9 years. Glue gun is unprofessional, not suitable for fabric and does not last!). The eyes poped out so easily I wondered why they hadn't come loose yet. The real problems started when I tried to put everything together again. The base, nose, teeth and tongue are all from Dreamcast Vision, but none were from the same line. :( The head was large K9, the tongue small K9, the teeth were Fox and the nose was unkown. It is not fit together at all. I ened up having to put a 1 to 1,5cm thick foam band around the tiny underjaw to make it fit, and sand down the egdes of the upper jaw about 0.5cm to make that fit. the Tongue was placed slightly further back the make that fit in the jaws. We also removed the double jointed jaw hinge because it kept moving around too much and making the jaw crooked. We turned it into a single jointed hinge, and replaced the elastic bands.
It was a lot of work, but totally worth it!
What do you guys think of him?
