Infatuation, and other things can substitute for 'real love.' It's easy to tell the difference when you do, in fact, truly love someone. I am pretty sure that Paul is truly and deeply in love with Gemma, and only now realizes what true love is, and how much he really does love her.

I feel really bad for laughing at that now.

Still Paul has feelings for her. Hopefully that will give her the power in her dream to banish the demon.

Read the statement. Paul is talking about when Gemma first came to the office. That was a while ago. I would be hard pressed to believe, or accept, that Paul is not totally and completely in love with Gemma right now, though.

Well love doesn't usually develop in one day. He probably fears she might die before he can openly declare that he loves her.

I love how this just shows how far you've come with this. I remember the early pages and I see this and I almost can't believe it. Such a difference.

Plus, while I don't know how this will go, I love how you can really feel Paul's emotions here. I've always been a fan of 'I loved you before I knew you' kinds of stories. I believe people have connections they don't necessarily understand at the time but they drive them nonetheless, like when you see someone and know you'll be friends despite no real apparent reason why.

She should have inserted the original panel artwork from that page into this latest pages flashback.

But yeah, being reminded of Found' s beginnings and seeing the growth of an artist throughout a single project is really quite remarkable.

Also, this page reminds me how much I like adult Gem too.

I would love to see a side by side, but I think the shift in style would be a bit jarring. I love how this version really reminded me of the original image so long ago. I am a latecomer to Shine and Found (only the last couple years) but wow. Definitely good, and one of the few furry projects with mature but not adult material (so far). It's a rarity and a wonderful example of good storytelling.

So he only LATER realized he was REALLY in love with her? Though personally, I think love at first sight exists, because love has to start somewhere.

Wow, this shot of Gem in the office really shows how much you've improved and how far you've come since this comic started. Congrats. n_n

maybe its less than a love as a romantic view but more as a protective figure ie: father or caretaker. this is based off random images on her page showing baby gemma being cared for by paul. so that could possibly be what he is trying to get at. Or I could be completly wrong but...who knows.

Keep in mind the context of his statement. It's possible that he's simply reflecting on the realization that what he felt back then was merely infatuation, compared to the genuine love he feels now.

Somehow, I remember Sammy saying only about 10 more pages to go. I've gone back 30 pages looking for that statement, and I can't find it. I get a feeling we'll be over 400 pages before this comic is done, and THAT is an amazing bit of work for our artist!

I won't be surprised if by the end of his adoring spiel Gem heard some of it and her spirit was strength against that horrible uncle.

However, even if that is the case, even if I'm not surprised, that doesn't take away the AWWWW it gets from me.

Her uncle is Souffle, and he's NOT horrible. It's her father, Jack, that's horrible. Or, maybe he was just driven to madness.

Oh, my bad. Yeah, I mean her horrible daddy. (Don't know why I said uncle).

Why the cliff hanger NOW of all episodes?!

What do you mean? C'mon, the past 30 pages have all be 'cliff hangers.' It's the end of the story, of course things are coming to a culmination, and we're all wanting to find out what happens.

And, ha ha ha, Sammy is leaving for Florida in a couple of days, and won't be back until the middle of August. Who knows when the next page will be!!!

See, Paul was saying that it was Gemma's confidence, determination that wrapped a spell around him.
