Here is the second and final page to my Force Awakens fan comic.

I really liked how it tied back to what she said to Maz in the basement. How she wouldn’t touch the lightsaber again, but called it to her to save her friend. It was the moment she made the choice to get involved, her hero moment.

Rey goes through stages in each panel that you can see on Daisy Ridley’s face in the scene. She goes from fear, reluctance, anger, and determination.

This picture had a lot of changes and evolution from its original concept. The Patreon supporters can go back and see those. I was just nearly wrapping up when I went to find the color for Rey’s narration text background.  While looking at the Disney Infinity picture, I discovered the character’s eyes were more green. It was an easy enough change, but I’m still glad I caught that.
I was experimenting with using Japanese sound effects in place of English.

The kanji in the last panel is for 目覚める (mezameru). It means, “to awaken to (instinct, ability, perception, etc.); to become aware of; to become conscious of; to realize”. While it felt appropriate for the title and scene. I’m sort of iffy about that addition.

This is the 35% sized version. The larger sizes will be distributed out to my Patreon supporters at the end of the month, after payments have been confirmed.

It pains me that I didn’t discover that Star Wars Fanzine until recently. I would have loved to have gotten in on that for charity. Here’s hoping they do a sequel, and you can be damn sure I’d be submitting this project.
