Gift/request for my boyfriend of a scene from his Pathfinder "Rise of the Runelords" campaign! Fighting a young red dragon to defend the city of Sandpoint ^^
His character is the owl winged paladin in the front!
I'm not really satisfied with how the right part of this picture came out, especially the mage, but OHBOY IF I LOVE HOW THE DRAGON TURNED OUT.

This is AWESOME! This turned out amazingly, Sab'.
I especially like the way the sun is situation behind the dragon; it nicely subverts the usual trope of the good guys, i.e. the adventuring party (who are usually the heroes of the story), being silhouetted against the sun as a sort of semi-divine symbol of hope and power against their enemy's onslaught. Here, the position of the dragon as the one bathed in sunlight can be taken as symbolizing the fury of the sun given form, it's oppressive heat made manifest as it descends upon the civilians. In constrast, the heroes flying in from the darkness, become a polarizing aspect, embodying the cool of night and the gentle light of the moon to smother the sun's burning gaze and heal the land to face the next trial that will inevitably come.
The Solar Tyrant against the Champions of Twilight.
In that aspect, the placement of the heroes/PCs also makes sense. The mage being the one in complete darkness calls to the usual association of the moon with the arts of magic, such as with Selene or Hecate. The position of the winged alchemist being at the halfway point nicely draws parallels with the burn scar on her face, as well as the fact that alchemy itself is seen as the marriage of science and magic, the harsh light of fact and realism intertwined with the alluring shades of mystery and fantasy. Your boyfriend's paladin and the monk being the ones completely in the light make sense give that their classes are normally associated with Good alignments, with paladins more often than not of the Lawful Good variety.
*Blushes,* Hehe, guess some of my old literary analysis instruction came back to me for a sec XD. Sorry for the rambling :P. But yeah, I love how this piece looks, and think it turned out spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, Sab' . I can't wait to see what more awesome stuff you have for us in the future :D.
