Heh, it would still be pretty difficult for Shining to overpower Chrysalis, considering she bound Cadence so easily, and in that case there is always hypnosis or another place as an 'adopted' sibling for him. I would be surprised if the imposter didn't have already plans to conveniently made him forget this episode, just to be sure
Given the massive destruction she caused on her first reveal because she didn't know any better, and the fact that his wife *already* had been kidnapped and replaced with a double once in the past, I would think it likely that he'd suspect shenanigans... BUT be unwilling to reveal his suspicions or act on them with someone in the room who *might* be Cadance... or might be the impostor. He'll probably surreptitiously notify his sister for backup, given the kind of magic Chrysalis is known to sling around. (Caveat: I haven't watched season 7 so I don't know any character development that happened there.)
Okay, this makes Shining look really bad. And also just the fact that Chrysalis is probably sleeping with him, which means he's being made to commit infidelity and being raped. That's real nice. God, this is really depressing. For such a supposedly beloved character, he sure does seem to keep getting the short end of the stick in fanart. Why does the fandom hate him so much?
Of course, it's also Cadence's fault for not thinking to write "I'm Cadence" or "She's a changeling" for some reason.

At first, I didn’t feel Shining Armor was a full member of the team. But now I’m convinced that he’s considered as much a part of the team as Cadance or Applejack. After all, his love is half the bedrock of the Crystal Empire’s rule.
Unfortunately, the show itself has been slow to pay proper attention to him. I’m so happy that the modern intro shows him alongside the other royals in Celestia’s throne room!
Luna herself did not receive her due attention at first.

That...still doesn't address my point? Shining art can be divided into 2 categories: BBBFF stuff and him losing out. So much of his art is him getting humiliated, killed, beaten, raped, controlled, among other bad things. It's really depressing. I hate characters who exist to be abused, like Meg and Squidward. If Shining is in a comedy comic, you know he's going to be the butt of the joke because that's the only reason he's ever in those. It's like how in the Simpsons, when it shows Milhouse or Ralph, you know it's gonna do a Milhouse/Ralph joke because that's the only reason they go to those characters. If I go by the fanart, it seems like the fandom actually hates Shining Armor because they keep abusing and humiliating him. It happens way more to him than anyone else (proportionately).
I don't call them real fans. I call them false fans -- hypocrites who refuse the true message of friendship. If I had "fans" who were like that, I would have my own characters disown them. (I'd call the above comic a cruel parody -- as well as a softcore Tijuana bible.)
The problem is -- Shining Armor goes against the grain of many people's narrow-minded views of what it means to be a man. He challenged my own prejudices. He's brave and strong, but he's usually not strong enough to win a great fight. (Overall, it seems the Mane 6 have had to do far too many rescues by themselves.) In addition, he's probably a little less intelligent than average (which Celestia seems to be, as well). Finally, he's not necessarily afraid to cry like a girl. If girls have the right, then I recognize his right.
The best I can tell, Shining Armor is grateful to have his big little sister to protect him. The Princess of Friendship adores him for who he is -- and this has helped me to adore him. There's a bit of a sibling rivalry -- but the best I can tell, he's not terribly jealous -- not much more so than Cadance.
All this time, Shining Armor has surrounded himself with the friendship of the mares -- getting the favor from them that many men want -- but are too arrogant to earn. These mares do not want toughness without tenderness. They'll choose a softer man any day.
The same people who hate Shining Armor probably love seeing everyone suffer -- not just him. They probably love seeing women being humiliated just as much ... for similar reasons.
I'm sorry to say that the show itself has occasionally dropped the ball, in the name of shock value or comedy. The times, in early episodes, when Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie acted possessed -- they made me feel that the show was going to make a joke of the message of friendship. And the times Snips and Snails were played for laughs helped me to feel unwelcome as a boy -- and as someone on the autism spectrum. (I'm elated that Snails has become a star athlete, lifting up his little friend in the process!)
For too long, the focus on girl power was making boys feel degraded as friends, for being neglected like Luna (whom the show itself neglected too much, I'm afraid).
Years later, I found the courage to watch the movie ... and its powerful message of forgiveness started to restore my faith in the show. Now I believe that our best characters are not defined by a few bad moments -- even if these moments are not always properly addressed. It seems their love is far greater than any anger or self-absorption. Moreover, there were some male characters making friends with the Mane 6 just as easily as the female characters were.
Since then, I have learned -- ever since Season 5, the character set has become far better balanced. Most cartoons probably get dumbed down over time. This cartoon grew up! Season 8 is the great watershed -- the moment where boys -- and other creatures -- become properly connected to the Tree of Harmony!

Aftermath:
Flurry Heart (Cadence): (Ugh... do I have to everything!?) *looks at her horn, tries using her magic but can't, she then looks down at Flurry's whammy* (Wow, Flurry's whammy is all dusty... when was the last time I put it into the washing machine? Wait a minute! That's it!) *she makes her horn spark, she sniffs the whammy, trying to make herself sneeze.) Ah... Ahh... Ahhahhhh! AH-CHOO!!! *She sneezes so hard that there's a lot of tension in her horn all of a sudden, allowing her to use a spell for that one second to turn herself back to normal.* Yes! It worked!
Cadence (Chrysalis): What the-!? How did you get out!? Also how did you make yourself normal again!?
Cadence: Shut up! You kidnapped my daughter, and tried to steal my husband once again! Who I should probably divorce by now... Now I'm gonna make you pay!
Chrysalis: *changes back to herself* Bring it on then! *her horn begins to glow*
Cadence: Oh no you don't! *jumps on Chryalis*
*Instead of a duel using magic, they're punching and kicking each other with their hooves.*
Cadence: Take that! *kicks her in the crotch area*
Chrysalis: Take this! *punches her in the face*
Shining Armor: *comes in, sipping coffee* Uhh...
Cadence: Shining! Help me, don't just stand there! *smashes a chair on Chrysalis*
Shining Armor: Well what can I do?
Cadence: Hold her down or something! You're the prince of the Crystal Empire you idiot!
Shining Armor: *sigh* Fine... *holds Chrysalis down with his magic*
Cadence: *breathing heavily, while looking at Chrysalis*
Chrysalis: Okay... I give up... I'll bring your daughter back home too...
*Later that night, Cadence and Shining Armor are in bed, this time, their daughter is sleeping with them for the night. Everything was back normal... well... sort of...*
Shining Armor: ... I want you to know I'm sorry I didn't get the message in the first place.
Cadence: Yeah... and I want you to know that I want a divorce.
Shining Armor: ... *sighs*
Flurry: ZZZZZZ...
