The circumstances were that it was a work in progress, and that sketch ended up never being finished beyond that point. Admittedly, I was most disappointed that it would never be finished, so I posted it as is.

Naturally, Rinji went through a couple key changes since that sketch, one of which was corrected in this version. For one, there's the glasses. The glasses were one of his early design concepts, which not long after said sketch, I ultimately decided to drop, especially since he's supposed to have keen visual prowess. The other thing was the shark tooth on his necklace. It was more of a cliche kind of thing, one that I eventually decided to silently abandon also, though it does appear in several more pictures of him.

Technically, there's also the jeans. And since Rinji exists on a post-human Earth, he has little to no "human" sense of fashion. Being a shinobi, he usually wears more traditional garb to accentuate that lifestyle. However, that's not to say he would never wear jeans. There are a number of characters that have been around since the human age, so surely at least one of him (most likely his parents or sensei) would've introduced him to jeans at some point...but I ultimately digress.

One other character trait I silently phased out over time was the bell on his tail. My reasoning was that during what is known as the First Era, Rinji uses the bell to passively train to hone his movements to keep from making it ring. This of course is meant to improve his stealth movements. Since he's 18 years old in the First Era and 25 by the second Era, that would be more than enough time to master moving with the bell on and not ever making it ring.

The most notable thing I wanted to point out, and which I'm very grateful to Mimic for, was him seamlessly adding a hand there, where originally there was none. Based on the angle in which Rinji was leaning and the positioning of his arm, the placement of the hand was the only correct one, this why he's resting against a boulder.
