Back home in Apaja, when I just a small cub, my papa sat me on his knee and he told me,
"Antru, one day you're going to be big as me and you're going to be stronger than me too."
And at first, I didn't believe him - my father was a giant of a man and the Kaukomieli family was a family of giants,
but I was so small. I told him, "Papa, I'm too small to be strong. I'll never be big as you."
And he laughed. And he smiled. And he told me, "Antru, I was small like you too. And my papa told me I would be
big as him too. And now I am bigger than him. And I am stronger than him. Because he had strength to spare - to give to the people of Apaja, to give to my family, and to give to me too. And now I have strength too to give to Apaja, to your mama and brother, and to give to you as well." And as I got older, papa's words were true - I was getting bigger and I was getting stronger. And I was bigger than my papa. And I was stronger than him.
So I did as papa did. And one day, I sat my little brother on my knee. And I told him, "One day, Felix, you're going to be bigger than me. And you're going to be stronger than me too." And I smiled when he said the same things I had said to my papa.
...But he wouldn't be bigger than me one day. And he wouldn't be stronger than me. The day I refused to give my strength over to someone who would use it to terrorize Apaja was the day I watched my family burn to death. And now I am the only Kaukomieli. Now I am the only finnish giant. And instead of letting my strength be abused by one, it would instead be abused by another. Dr. Simon Landas, the man who would give me strength beyond strength, strength forcibly taken from others, strength forced upon me without resistance.
And I became stronger than any giant. And I became stronger than any on earth. And I became terrified.
For I had the strength to destroy.
And I had the strength to devastate.
And I had the strength to break any and all before me.
And I was terrified of thought.
...and then I met Nibble. A small chinchilla in the doctor's 'care'. He reminded me so much of my little brother.
And we escaped. And we fled. And we sought asylum in Colmaton. With a young child to feed and take care of, with power like this, I had to control it. And I would.
Now I stand with heroes and heroines of the BOS. And this fist of mine is my vow. The Kaukomieli family gave their strength to defend Apaja.
Now I'll give my strength to protect the world."
