This is actually not the first time I’ve tried painting Pigmon (or Pygmon, if you like). The first time was on a stretched canvas, which I was not entirely happy with because of the canvas being incredibly slacked. Rarely have those canvases been the right firmness for my liking. I sorta gave up on it out of spite, and I’ve since found panel canvases - especially for anything smaller than 8x10 - to be far easier to work with.
(Yes, I’m aware they make stretchers, or I could pull the staples and adjust the canvas itself, but I’d prefer not to go to that kinda trouble, especially when I know there are canvases that don’t have the issue. Not to mention these are way more compact!)
Anywho, I also have to kick myself for not finishing this sooner (I believe I started this not long after I made the Miss Namikawa painting). A word from the wise, try not to take a long break on a piece, especially on a small one like this. I don’t think I did anything wrong with the image itself, but it felt kinda awkward, like picking up from where I left off in a book or TV show and needing a refresher. But to be fair, I can say it did feel good to pick up some brushes again, and as always, it is a relaxing process.
