When Fuf over on Inkbunny was offering metal-themed commissions, I simply HAD to get one of Von Davidicus playing THE most unlikely instrument I've ever brought to a heavy metal jam: My Great Bass Recorder in C (1) yes, it really is that big, 2) yes, it's even more unlikely than my bassoon because at least people know bassoons exist).
Believe it or not, in certain subgenres of metal (particularly slower-paced doom metal), the lower recorders worked very well, adding a haunting, eerie sound to the music.
Alas, no more metal jams for now--there are none in Calgary anymore.

An excellent example of the lower recorders is this (though it is not metal)

*BLINK!*
Thx!
(Insert obvious 'blowin' big wood' joke here.)
Thanks that's awesome...is the sound directly (I have no idea how to describe it.) because it's wood?
I have a set of wooden earbuds and I love them 'cause they're so rich in sound.
the bass clarinet sounded ...uh "midi"/8 bit?
(Doh! The next vid on the base clarinet has a chick talking about putting alot of it in your mouth...Oooo dear...)
