I saw it 13 times in theaters because I'm a maniac, BUT, it wasn't perfect, and I agree with everything you said. I also just found out Rich Moore (director of both movies) may not have been happy with it either, and this may be why he left Disney, so I'm a bit sad, now. D;
I knew it wasn't what he wanted it to be originally, but I thought that was HIS choice. Now that I'm finding out it may not have been........eeeeeesh......

Uhhhh, I don't think they plan on making a 3rd one, especially since Moore left.
I really think that was just The End They Decided To Go With.
But after seeing Toy Story 4, I'm starting to worry that these endings AREN'T being decided because "they're the way this story was meant to go" but because "if a sequel isn't poignant and heartbreaking, people will accuse it of being a mundane cash grab - distract them with FEELS!!!" (I think this started because of everyone's praise of Toy Story 3, which, yeah, was amazing, but now all sequels are trying for a "Toy Story 3 Moment"????)
...and all that is REALLY starting to conflict with my desire to just be happy WiR got a sequel at all. -_-

Although, just to add to this - I'd love it if they did make a 3rd!! I just wish they'd let it be more about video games, the way it was intended when a sequel was first announced.

The fact that it became all about "other Disney properties" instead seemed alright with me at first, but the more I look at it, and what was initially proposed, I worry that Disney changed Moore's plan too much to make the movie into a giant ad for their own properties. I'd LOVE to find out I'm wrong about that, but there's no way to know for sure. D;
Moore works for Sony Animation now - I wonder what he'll do there?
