Improvement meme:

I think its worth pointing out that, unlike a lot of younger artists, I didn't have internet access until I was 20. Younger artists get to grow up from a young age with the internet, with all the tips, influences, and references available to them from the start.
I didn't have anything like that until I was in my 20s.
I'd never seen anyone else's digital art, never messed about on any digital art programme, and was completely self taught in everything.
Therefore, my art at the age of 22 wasn't as advanced as perhaps people at 22 are now. I notice a marked improvement in my work as soon as I got the internet and was able to learn from others and get ideas and inspiration, not to mention the enormous amount of animal anatomy references.
I simply ask younger artists to imagine not having any of that at all. I do wish I'd had it available from a younger age, as I feel I'd have progressed quicker, but hey, what can you do?

Thanks!
I'd always drawn, since I was really tiny, but I never gave any thought to anything like anatomy or lighting or mood or anything like that; I just drew. Since I never really showed anyone, I had no idea of how good/bad I was, or what needed work. It wasn't until I got online and saw people really delving into things like anatomy and colour theory and such that I really started getting into the technical side of art, which improved what I was putting out immensely.
I think I always had a fair ability to actually draw, but I just had no idea about how to use the programmes I had. I didn't even start using layers until a few years had passed. Im a bit of a slow learner :P

Same here, except when I was a kid I would draw airplanes and rockets rather than furries. But if you're a slow learner, then keep learning slow because I love your stuff, it doesn't look like anything else out there. Other than what looks like a good study of rat anatomy, your style is completely unique.
