Commission to
Nauta
One again commissioners wants cars, it's fun!
Usually on each art I always draw the car. But on the process I worked digitally a photo with the permission of my client. Just trying a different way to get the same result I think.
This time the character & environment were a sort or natural or feral idea. and looks like he knows when to take things seriously but also how to have one hell of a good time (but how can get a car in the middle of the jungle?)
He, he.. just give to the customers what they want!

It looks fantastic! I think you did both Sethrik and the Weasel much justice in this picture (The Weasel is what I named my car, btw ;)
This pic now adorns my desktop. I just wish my screen were higher resolution to take advantage of the detail in the picture... But 1024x768 will have to do.
Now when I want to show people my car, I can just send them this image. ^^

Well, I paid $999 for it in 2007 w/ 100k miles.
When I got it, it needed a new belt, battery, and a wheel bearing (pretty normal stuff for the mileage). I drove it around all summer of 2008 before garaging it for the winter. Then, last summer, I took a 2500 mile road trip from Minneapolis to Detroit to Pittsburgh and back for Anthrocon.
Have had zero problems with it. It's actually more reliable than my 2000 Saab. The engine is a Mazda B-series 16 valve DOHC turbo and is also non-interference which is nice. It also came with a hard top.
This summer I plan to replace the CV axles and put new tires on it, and then drive it back to Anthrocon. Nothing like road tripping in a convertible. I'll just need to remember putting on sunblock this time. XD
Don't let the fact that it's a Ford fool you; Mazda running gear and the fact that it's built in Australia make it better than the other crap Ford sold here in the early 90's.

Mine's cosmetically challenged but mechanically sound. That's what matters imo. It has some dents that need pulling out and a new coat of paint, a few little things don't work (like the power window on my door or the mirrors), but that's menial.
The turbo, transmission and top all work just fine. ^^

My parents got one of these little buggers sitting in the driveway. Tho it's no a XR2 model, it's still pretty nice. The only gripe I have to them is the gearing and the ECU's gear select. It's constantly going in and out of 3rd to 2nd around my area (I live in the Western part of Maryland) which puts extra stress on the drive train. I'd also mention the fact that it's a high reving engine, but that's just cause I'm not used to reving an engine to 7K before it decides to change gears on the highway.
But like I said, it's a rather decent little car and VERY reliable and fuel efficent. These guys have only a 10 gallon tank if I remember and they will go 20 to 30 miles per gallon

Well, at the time, my parents needed a small efficient compact for daily driving to work and something with an automatic cause my mother can't drive a manual much anymore (or she just doesn't want to). I don't blame her after the 6 years she had with a craptastic 1st gen Kia Sportage which was the last thing to have a manual.
The motor was originally for a Mazda turbo rally car, and they just took the turbo off for the Miata, regular Capri, Escort GT, etc... It's a really sturdy engine with oil squirters and forged rods. If you've got to have a back seat, go for it! If you can do without, turbo kits for Miatas are dirt cheap.
