Humh, yeah it does a bit, I was going for a robotic lion kind of thing though :P

I know, and it does look robotic, kinda reminds me a little of decepticon helmet with an evil expression.
It's just that things look very smooth shapes with nice curves and gradients.

o.o your right! most of my robotic like stuff is heavily influenced by transformers, I loved everything about them :D (except for the japan stuff :X) good eye my friend :3

Ah, you can just go around the big technical mechanics and still make it look cool.
I like drawing exotic mechs (Orbital Frames from ZOE) better than the more concrete and blocky ones (Transformers and Gundam).
One thing that reminded me about this icon was that I have a lion mecha and that I recently decided to redesign him and get higher art deco influences on him... Also because I'm sick of people saying he looks like a Zoids bot.
Now I'll have to be carefull so his head design doesn't look too much like yours. XD

I kind of had a Voltron moment when I first saw this pic.

I also wouldn't have thought to look for a seam if you hadn't mentioned mirroring it, though a mirroring technique does make sense in this case.

voltron and transformer were things I watched a lot when I was a kid, so they influence a lot of my robotic stuff :3

I did work to make the seam disappear, so it's no obvious xP
