It didn't occur to me until just a bit ago that I...don't actually have any pictures of the big white gryphon up here! So here, have a badge, FA.

Hrr. Can I ask you to check on multiple monitors? I've seen it on two or three, and it looked fine to me. Mind, the black *IS* a bit gray in the physical piece as well, so it's just not going to reach all the way down there, but if it looks washed out, well...that's different.
Well not so much 'washed out' as lacking contrast because the dynamic range has been considerably compressed. Look at the RGB values in the border or look at how far over the left (black) edge of the histogram of the image is. A quick auto-levels would totally fix, but it is just a suggestion.
