No. I have played that, so I do know what you mean, but no.
You know the final stage-boss that you fight as E-102, the one in Hot Shelter? The purple one? Well, if you look near its missile launchers, it has Dreamcasts powering it.

Mission accomplished. I think the rifle does work, but might need alternate's for different needs? like the different E-100's have differetn weapon set-ups. This rifle for him does look more appropriate in terms of Gamma's hovering pose when he's holding the gun in the other hand.
