Sadly, mainly due to the WOKE community that views with narrow eyes, anybody who served in the military. Plus todays education in American schools that feel the sacrifices made were just contributing to Capitalism. I was stunned that my own daughters history class barely even mentioned WW2. But certainly spent chapters on the Civil Rights act, the Voting Rights act, protests against the Vietnam war through Gulf wars.
I believe you are mistaken about who is to blame for a lack of lessons on WWII. The "WOKE" community as you call them don't seem like the kinds who would want the world to forget the horrors Nazi Germany and their Japanese allies inflicted on the world. Lack of WWII education seems right up the alley of holocaust deniers, however. The few people who know the history of WWII the more likely they are to be convinced the holocaust never happened.
No? No idea how you got that out of what I said. I said holocaust deniers are the people who are doing their best to make sure WWII history goes untaught. The "WOKE" community as you call them are not holocaust deniers in my experience and you are accusing them for the lack of WWII in history classes.
Oh...Okay. Guess I just read it wrong. I find it seriously disturbing that there are those that deny the Shoah ever happened. Though I haven't encountered any educators in the public education locally that are deniers. I'm sure a few white supremacists and Black radicals (IE:Louis Farrakhan's motley bunch of funsters.) deny the Holocaust happened.
Oddly I find many of the commie furs are denying the Holodomor or even the Cambodian Killing Fields.

Karens, and also our generation with some Gen z involved.
Some do not even know about WWII, or what a concentration camp is.
TBh, i would join Titus in kicking some young gen butt just to beat some sense into them towards reading a history book and visiting war sites.
Never forget D day.

To me, Rememberance Day is less about patriotism and more about sheer anger. World War I was an orgy of senseless violence and bloodshed that solved absolutely nothing. The Upper Classes of the world were completely content in throwing millions of working-class men into the sacrificial meat-grinder of Imperialism, all for the sake of some 'national pride'.
My grandfather was a Canadian Peacekeeper during the Suez conflict. Every Remembrance Day, I think of him. He passed naturally about 5 years ago. Still though, he brought back with him why Canada goes into a conflict. In World War 1 & 2, these European civilians had nothing to do with us. But we did good by them all the same, because they deserve to live, to thrive & to be free. There was no selfish pride. We went there solely for them. <3
Excellent piece. I'm sure my grandpa would approve, had he seen this pic. He was always a fan of my furry art, a fan of military history & ultimately very compassionate. <3
