It's common knowledge (okay, well, it SHOULD be...but give it time) that the lovely Traeci Lee is as sexy as she is sweet. But her equally-just-as-sexy friend, the magenta beauty that is Kale‘a Maciver, always saw particular potential for her to increase her natural allure for the benefit of their mutual male friend and her love interest, Mr. Matt Johnson. So Traeci met Kale‘a at her favorite dance floor and, as one of the echidna's favorite songs to dance to—a particularly percussion-heavy number—began to blare from the speakers, Kale‘a took the fox-wolf's hand. She was about to give this girl some much-needed advice...and some new moves.

I can't remember where I first conceptualized this idea, but considering the future crossover potential of the individual stories, it was bound to happen. It also gave me a chance to test out some new things regarding these characters, particularly their wardrobes, which for this image were slightly improvised from previous ideas: Kale‘a is quite possibly one of the few who can pull off the unorthodox combination of a cropped hoodie and side-tie bikini bottoms, while Traeci's outfit is actually a combination of elements from two separate ensembles which somehow manage to work together here as well.

The background was originally going to resemble the main room of Kale‘a's treehouse, but as I failed to find suitable references images and, thus, went completely off-the-cuff and kept changing the idea as I drew it, the ultimate setting evolved into a nightclub-esque scenario where the relatively abstract sketch was overlaid with numerous airbrushed lighting effects utilizing several blending modes, which I must have spent several hours alone tweaking.

Also, and I'm probably biased here, but these two are very cute together. Maybe we'll see them team up again...perhaps once Traeci has mastered the art of Kale‘a's legendary hip rolls? <3
