-Galactic prison, 2042- Part 3 - A new chance -
The whole prison was full of gossip and rumors about a recruiter fro the UTO was coming by looking candidates. This was a chance at freedom for those who longed to be something more then scum. James sat in his cell waiting to be scolded by the warden for yesterday's issue. As some commotion was starting up James decided to investigate what was going on.
Most were polite enough to make way for him. A few that didn't were just starting to move. The warden had finally come to address her prisoners. The rumors were actually true.
"Today we have Officer Ginno, a spokesman for the UTO recruitment program. He will be speaking, so please treat him with respect as you would me." Her words seemed like gold to some in that group, for others a challenge.
They headed for the auditorium for this one speech which detailed an easy way to freedom. Evey prisoner was seated for this single speech. The prison had a good sized population showing UTO laws were being enforced outside those grey stone wall. Many couldn't wait at any chance for freedom outside those cells and leaving such a garbage life with it.
Everyone was chatting quietly waiting for the speaker to show now afraid it was a sick trick.
The fancy over dressed Officer walked in his best attire for such a simple moment. It was a fox or like one with it's orange and white fur all brushed clean showing even more how different he was to these prisoners locked behind bars.
Officer Ginno had expected stares and this dead silence but even he himself felt nervous around scum campable of any such things. His orange fur caused him to stick out anyway.
The Officer made steps up to the potium becoming every jumpsuit wearing person's interest. He took off his hat while pulling out the crumbled speech. His wife had washed the uniform with the paper still in its pocket. 'Thank the stars I have spare!' He thought pulling out the copy about to start. Officer Ginno cleared his throat to speak about details vital to Jackson's easy way out.
"The UTO has let me come here to speak about our expanding recruitment program." Ginno started.
He even looked around seeing the many shining faces wanting freedom and hope only for him to feel terror. He wondered what crimes they had commited for this to be a final chance. Jackson was intrigued by those few starting words.
"This program is for those willing to remake themselves into a proper fighting force. This in not so 'get of jail quick' scheme. You will be pushed to your limits and make sacrifices. The UTO needs those able to join and fight against the Raynar." Ginno paused judging how he discouraged those unwanted, but many still seemed willing yet.
"It is also part of the Integration program for those understanding and strong enough to handle such a program of warriors." Ginno looked at the crowd making sure it was understood.
"Recruitment forms shall be given to those eligible." Ginno was to end his speech with an ultimatum he himself wrote.
"You can either sit in that cell doing nothing or join the UTO doing something that matters, giving other that freedom which they have been cheated out of by those bastard Raynar. That's up to you and you alone." And Officer Ginno stepped off the potium with confidence. For once he felt like something was better about this speech then any other time. Now all he had to do was wait to recive those recruitment forms and send them to his office.
So many were wanting to sign up yet many were equally hesitant to sign up. Jackson wasn't scared, he just sat watching the room empty out slowly till he was left behind.
Ginno saw one prisoner's reluctance to head to his cell. Ginno approached him with cation also seeing a guard coming over for the prisoner. Both looked at each other for a second.
"Where do I sign up for that?" The prisoner asked. Ginno was more then happy to tell the human.
"B level or one of the guards could get you papers if needed." Ginno had said it hundreds of times before. He always felt good knowing he got at least someone to join on.
The prisoner moved on being escorted back to his own cell. Jackson's plan was finally in motion now and it was just on thing.
All He has to do was sign his name...
