Another source of inspiration was Beavis and Butthead, strangely enough, considering we didn't have cable television. I did another piece with a duck friend who sat on the couch with the rabbit. I hadn't come up with a name for them yet but I have drawn one more entry, the contest had a limit of three. I finished the drawings and submitted them. Whatever amount of time passed and the representatives from Hooters announced my "Rabbit Family" piece as the winning placemat. The grand prize was a tray of buffalo wings. They where "okay" and I shared them with the class. I would have preferred cash, but a win is a win. Never visited a Hooters in my life though I am curious to see kids coloring my art.
I didn't name the characters until some weeks later. Elroq for the rabbit and EQ for the duck. I would refine Elroq to make him look less like Max and give them a vague backstory about wanting to start a rap group. The school's newspaper wanted me to draw 3 panel comics for a few issues, they were really bad (though I wish I still had them).
