It was a gala like any other that Alyss had been forced to attend. The music, the food, the same snobby faces of the same stuffy aristocrats that always attended these things. Alyss stood at the edge of the dancefloor, watching the couples swirl by with their tuxedos and their dresses. Alyss was about to retreat to the balcony, despite the clichè of the situation when her eyes met his.
It surprised her how she hadn't noticed him yet. Out of all the men in the entire ballroom, he was the only one not wearing they typical black and white. He was rather dapper in a rich, purple tuxedo that complimented his pale skin and silvery hair. His eyes, a brilliant golden hue that pierced into hers. She would look away and when she looked back, he was still staring at her, a smirk now gracing his lips. A few more exchanged glances, and the stranger would move towards her, crossing the dancefloor, and gracefully weaving his way through the dancers until he stood over her.
"May I have a dance, Lady Heart?" He would ask her in a deep voice that was smooth, yet had an odd rumble beneath the silky tones. He took her hand in his, his nails long, sharp, and golden.
"You know my name?" She asked him, surprised.
A chuckle.
"Of course I do, my dear. I've been eyeing you all evening." The Stranger informed her with a sharptoothed smile, pulling her along towards the dancefloor.
"Wait! I didn't say that I would dance with you!" The young woman yelped, though she didn't try to fight him, allowing herself to be dragged along.
His only response was to laugh and wrap an arm around her waist. "No, but you didn't say that you wouldn't." The Stranger noted while they began to sway to the music. It was odd, really, how their surroundings seemed to fade away. It was like the music was playing for them, or that was how Alyss felt. Honestly, she couldn't look away from his eyes.
At least, not until she noticed something long, thick and purple gliding alongside her. A tail? Alyss whipped her head to see what it was more clearly, but when she focused on it, it was gone. "Something the matter, my dear?" He asked her, his tone full of amusement.
"I... I-It's nothing!" Alyss stuttered with a shake of her head, letting him twirl her around as she began to return to reality.
Well, well, well... When
DuskBane wants to surprise me, he proves that he's willing to go above and beyond to do it. I never imagined that he would get art involving a human version of his fursona. My jaw hit the floor when I saw this completed piece. He says that he wanted to show how much he accepts Alyss, and well, there can be no denying it.
