The B-17, nicknamed the Flying Fortress, operated with a crew of 10. There were four dedicated gunner positions plus the engineer and bombardier who were also gunners. The pilot, copilot, navigator, and radio operator completed the crew. A number of the movable guns are clearly visible in this photo.
