Story: Grizzly Gruff's earlier lifestyle is unknown, but he was once a former sheriff of a town called Hope's Creek, yet soon grew tired and bored of defending the "weak" for little to no reward, right after being entrusted with protecting a gold shipment, he released three prisoners from jail, a wolf, weasel, and ferret, on the condition that they work for him from now on and abandoned his job and badge for the criminal lifestyle he found to be more exciting, now a wanted outlaw. During one of the stagecoach robberies, he encounters Harmony HawkTail who saves the family of beavers and is able to chase off the gang as they had underestimated her too soon, unable to catch her due to her speed. From that day forward, Harmony made a new enemy with Grizzly Gruff and his gang who vowed vengeance upon the hawk that humiliated him, and gathered information of her whereabouts from other civilians she encountered while hoping to make other towns believe that she was a dangerous, evil hawk to protect his true intentions.
