Born to the village archivist, Huang Liang, and priestess Huang Tao Lien, Yun grew up surrounded by the history of her people, both from technical and spiritual points of view. Thanks to both, she gained a sense of pride for the Langren race and an appreciation for saying "Knowledge is power." However, in her time, the Langren had been around for less than 1800 years. As such, their history was incredibly brief next to the history of the world. In her early teens, she had learned the history of her kind and turned to another source of power... human history.
Studying the many eras and civilizations of the world, she found a common thread; a tool that all human societies used to carve their fates, before the invention of firearms... the sword. While attending her Tai Lang Quan classes, she spent her free time practicing Tai Chi, both unarmed and with a Jian straight sword. During her final year of instruction, the village chief stepped down and turned the class to the local blacksmith, Lang Wen. Her power gained through knowledge won the respect, admiration, and heart of her new teacher, eventually adopting his surname.
Years later, Yun had amassed a collection of sword from around the world and across the centuries, learning the arts used to wield them, as well. On their fourth mating anniversary, she would surprise Wen with news that they would soon be blessed with a pup. For his own gift, Wen wrote a romantic poem for her. For his personal spin, he enrgaved it in gold on the blade of magnificent Jian sword, which remained her favorite weapon to this day. She christened it "Jin Ai Bao" for it was her treasure of love and steel, believing both to bless her in battle.
"If love were power,
I would cross over oceans
As a show of strength."
