Actually, no he is not. What he is is the victim of a bunch of uncreative idiots who don't know what to do with him. He hasn't been given another solo film since his first solo film in 1956 and that is simply ridiculous. TOHO keeps treating him like he is nothing special in his own right. He is either Godzilla's power battery when Godzilla needs a power-up and Mothra is not available or someone who Godzilla gets to beat down to remind everyone just how powerful he is. He has been relegated to being nothing but an underdog for most of his career when he deserves to be so much more.

He is one of the most underused monsters in both film universe canons (TOHO or LEGENDARY). TOHO has no excuse why they couldn't do more with him. They don't even try and that is the truth. Even with the recent Godzilla: Singular Point anime series Rodan is still treated like crap. He is no longer a singular monster but a freaking swarm that gets killed by literally everyone. In other words he has been reduced to being used as a target that needs to be killed quickly. And boy that happens nearly constantly throughout the run of the first season of Singular Point. He gets a little respect in comics and maybe a few novels but that is pretty much it.

I was disappointed with the Godzilla: King of the Monsters when I watched that movie. Rodan's redesign was the only good thing they did for him in that whole film. The rest of the time was him getting his ass kicked by King Ghidora to become Ghidora's lapdog. Then Mothra kicked his ass too before she sacrificed herself to save Godzilla. *Sigh* I left that movie so enraged that I went home and started working on an idea for some Rodan story/comic project. I can't say much on it right now but it is coming along slowly.
