Nice new shading technique, I definitely see an improvement there! Worth to keep in mind that while you're working with lines there's definitely no need to be afraid trying to go higher on the contrast. If it gets too much you can always change the opacity!

The bindings look secure and with the position he's in, even if he did manage to work his jaws free of the gag he's not going to be biting through the ropes. If anyone did free him, Nate looks to be rather angry so I imagine he might be more minded to give someone a beating than thank them. So we might as well tickle the shark's feet again.
