Here is a pre concept drawing of one of my characters Zera Rossgard. Quickly rushed through it last year, with only major modifications and submitted for a class on video game art and design thanks to Coursera and CALARTS.

Backstory: "Zera lives on a farm together with his parents, George and Kana Rossgard along with his little sister Zabby Rossgard. He knows a lot about Dragoma (a tactical sport of shape shifting creatures that battle each other), history and astrophysics. When he was younger, Zera often got bullied by the other kids in his town because he was different than the rest . After a traumatic incident at school, in which a bully attacked him and he lost his left eyesight, he fell into a great depression. He is usually very calm, friendly and kind-hearted, but whenever he felt insulted or pushed into a corner, the dark side of him took over and he counterattacked and destroyed the opposing DraGoma without mercy. He even defeated his father, George Rossgard. After he met Tealgra and Yura, he realized what he had done, his wrathful personality vanished forever and he became normal again, but he kept his eyesight, and he became good friends with the other Guardians."

Zera is equipped with a blend of simplistic but complex design. Each element has a meaning according to his personality. The turquoise fox tails resemble the tribe of Zeraiya, along with the snippets of grass on his mop of brown hair. The letters Z and E marked on his cheeks represent the first two letters in his name.

Density: Zera's headshot at neck base. His expression is flatly serious with a hint of critical thinking. He loves to invent stuff via his skills in 3D modeling and his crucial admiration over space and technology. The letter E on his right chin tilts down in response to his mild frown.

Mood and Story: Full body view of Zera Rossgard, clad in in his purple shirt layered with a white cape in red scratches. Perched on his mop of brown hair are three leaves and fox tails gleams out justice and honor. Jet black pants along with a brown belt complete his profile. A light red gash across his pale arm is shown when he was damaged from other opponents.

Proportion: Rear view of Zera Rossgard. A full view of the white cape gashed with red stains along with his purple shirt and black pants. A maroon tribe brooch holds both the grass and fox tails in place. Hand faded off for simplistic appearance.
