The moomba is eager to have a new start a life with the dapper sergal. They want to try being a pirate and enjoy each day as it comes but the sergal is hesitant. Can Ankor be convinced? Alexander seems to be willing to take the time to learn especially going so far as to learn asl for him. What else can this little kit do?

About Time
Tabitha Thomas
6/25/2021
It had been 5 months since the last time the kit had seen that ship. Each day they had made a point to stop by the docks and look for that specific boat. But despite that, their studies had shifted to that of pirate life. Indulging in the craft of their ships and boats as well as some pirate lore. The thoughts of a handsome sergal still filling their thoughts and dramatic rescue daydreams. A heavy sigh escaped the small lips as they sat at the fountain in town thumbing through a poetry book. This time clad in a long-sleeve plum v-top with a dark violet undershirt, a grey skirt that showed off her short legs while having on black rounded dress shoes and pale, pink thigh highs. Although normally focused in reading, today was different; restless and feeling rather social but with no one to talk to. A brief pout crossed their lips as they peered up and saw a shadow cast down upon their small frame, “About time! You know how long I have been waiting here?! Too long! Do you have a cell phone? I have too much to talk about since it’s been forever.” They looked flustered but their breath had soon been held as they took in the sight of the very well dressed sergal.
Ankor this time was in tight fitting black bottoms and a tight black button up but more impressive was the corset vest that was white, trimmed with gold and a hexagonal tie that glistened in the sun’s rays. Did he have a date? Why was he dressed so formal? He could see the confusion and handed the poetry book back and pointed for them to open it.
Alexander opened the book and found paper with their name on it and then opened it reading a single sentence and their face turned pink. The only thing on the paper was ‘walk with me?’ Standing upright they gathered their bag and placed the books inside and looked up to the handsome male with shimmering eyes. Following his stride, they began to speak, “So, I was doing some reading and I was trying to figure out what you must do on your ship. I’m certain you are not the captain or the quartermaster. I was thinking maybe the sailing master or the boatswain but I doubt you would be just a cabin boy or a mate-y.”
Ankor was surprised that they had invested in so much time in learning about pirates and ships but it was also a bit of a relief as it made explaining easier. He wasn’t sure how to proceed though as he wasn’t about to speak so he thought perhaps paper and a pen would be necessary. As he was walking, he saw the small kit beside him handing over something. Taking it, he looked over the small whiteboard and then saw a marker handed over next. She truly had prepared. He took the marker and placed it to the board writing as though making a list then handed it back, capping the marker and holding it.
“I see, this is a pretty small crew. Captain Blacktail.. Woah, wait the infamous Blacktail?” Seeing the nod, they got a chill and hurried along-side them, “I’ve heard countless stories of that ship then! And let’s see.. His wife is the quartermaster? Hmm, it shows here that Yudan and Longshot share sailing master, boatswain, gunner, surgeon, and carpenter.” Slowly looking up and over to the stoic male they continued, “So, there are a lot of shared duties amongst you all. That’s great but who cooks the meals?” Seeing him tap at the quartermaster they pouted, “That’s a lot of work for just one person and to feed how many mouths? Plus, I am certain they have to keep up with the inventory. Your ship lacks bodies. You need more. I’m telling you, take me with you!”
Ankor continued to walk up the hill further from the shoreline and then into what seemed to be an older hotel. He gave a small wave to the front desk as if having been here often; moving towards the elevator he let the short one in before entering and hitting the top floor which was labeled PH. He listened to the arguments that Alexander was giving and he could agree to quite a few and the girl was seemingly very persuasive but he still couldn’t condone having her coming to risk her life to do something so reckless. When the elevator gave a ring, he made his way into the large open room and went to the bar and proceeded to make drinks. Without missing a beat this girl was in a seat still going on about the perks of her being on the ship. He made a mojito and a margarita offering one and saw that she took the mojito. Taking the margarita, he made his way towards a balcony. He found it amusing she was so focused on her speech that she had taken in none of the surroundings or where he was leading her. He could have walked off a cliff and the kit would have likely followed suit and still be on a chatting banter on the way down. Stepping out he inhaled the air and then looked to her face then placed a finger to her lip finally silencing her. He placed his hands on the ledge and looked out over the city and the dock.
Alexander had nearly finished their point but when feeling a finger to their lip they saw in their hand a drink. Had they ordered this? Taking a sip their face made a grin but then they leaned on the edge and gazed out over the small city and bay and smiled, “Beautiful isn’t it. This is a pretty nice view. This building was still standing after the fire of ‘82 when the east coast had invaded. They say that the basement was a great refuge. I can see the ship you came on from here. Oh, see the blue apartment buildings over there? That’s where I live. On the third floor facing the docks. Daily when I was reading, I would look out there for your ship. Why did it take so long? Blacktail have a lot of other ships to worry over?”
Ankor took a drink of his and listened. It was nice not having to be talked at and rather talked to. Alexander had a way of making the conversation less forced. His face still stern as the wind waved his shoulder length black hair as the white tips grazed his cheeks. Although it had been nice, he knew that she would get bored of him. He wouldn’t speak to her and she would likely detest him and ignore him at one point. What the kit did next lightly shocked him. He saw her hands moving and carefully spelling something.
“T.a.l.k.t.o.m.e.” They had spelled it out using classic ASL. Looking up and seeing the expression on his face they smiled, “What? I had 5 months to practice the alphabet. I know it by heart but I don’t trust books enough to learn actual hand gestures.” Taking a long drink they finished the first glass, “Take me to the ocean. Let me sail the open sea. To breathe the warm and salty air and dream of things to be. Erica Billups. Hmm, can you make another?” Still seeing him shocked they reached out and took the margarita from his hand and took a sip, “Mm, this is quite good! Make me one of these instead!” Taking a look back they now came to the realization that they were in the penthouse and alone with a dashingly handsome sergal pirate. Cheeks flushed red as they looked up to the male, “Ankor?” A small hand wave but then gasped when he took their hand and kissed it as though worshipping the small digits before him.
Ankor took the empty mojito glass and went back inside to make another drink for the kit but paused hoping that they didn’t feel obligated to partake in anything. This wasn’t some ploy to get her in bed. Seeing her sit he slowly signed by spelling out his next words. [would you like me to teach you more?]
Cheeks turned a bright red as their imagination had this sergal crawling over the bar after the last words and having whispered it in their ear. A chill went up the spine and they smiled, “Of course! Teach me gestures. Start with names and ocean stuff.” Another long drink and they finished the second glass.
The cyan eyed sergal smiled and then gestured then spelled out the meaning. He walked around with the next two glasses and moved to the rounded couch that sank into the floor with a table at its center. He sipped his drink now intrigued by this creature which was something that not many managed to do. He began to spell. [What are you? Species?]
“Hmm? Oh, I’m a moomba. Subspecies of lion or some other cat. Do I look like a cat?” Without missing a beat, they tilted their head and held up a paw and did a cute ‘nyan’ noise.
Ankor was smiling but hearing the noise and seeing the pose made him shuffle a bit as though uncomfortable in his seat. It had been cute but in another way he hadn’t expected. Doing a gesture, he then spelled it out. [Very cute.]
Finishing the second glass they drew closer and smiled, “You mean it?” They repeated the gesture and rested their head upon his chest, “Your heartbeat is so loud. Like drums... Dance with the waves, move with the sea. Let the rhythm of the water set your soul free. Christy Ann Martine.” There was a small yawn as their hand rest upon his thigh and felt him grow stiff, “Mm, my apologies I think I had them a bit fast and I’m a little erm, tipsy?”
Ankor swallowed hard as he stared down at her snuggling into him and feeling the hand on his thigh, he had to control himself as a very apparent bulge had started to form. The attraction was there but with her three drinks in, consent was not. He gently lifted her and began to move towards the bed and blushed when she was kissing his cheek.
“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep. The more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite. Juliet.” Feeling the fluff of the bed they reached up a hand and smiled brushing his cheek, “And then Romeo said: Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight, For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.” Hands brushed through the locks of black and white tipped hair and a small grin, “Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again. Romeo said before-” Alexander leaned up placing the smallest kiss on the lips of the male and then slumped down, “The heart wants what it wants..” A yawn as they curled into the pillow.
Ankor was beat red and glad that they had been tired enough to slowly ease to sleep. He gently removed the shoes and set them beside the bed and brushed the locks of green hair from her face and peered at her sleeping form as her breath as slowed. With her asleep he pulled the blanket over her and then stared before taking a quiet breath, “O, I am Fortune's fool.” His voice like that of an ASMR delight and something one would indulge when wooing oneself to sleep or sexual activities. He touched his throat almost finding it odd speaking again but slowly made his way to the bar and dimmed the lights and sat as he took paper and a pen and began to write.
‘Dear Alexander,
You made some very convincing arguments and I am willing to bring them up with my captain and quartermaster but you must bare to mind that sea is unforgiving. It rages and is no place for a petite thing like you. I am willing to visit you often if you allow me so that you will not have to face the waves of the ocean. I think you would make a great ship-mate and with some training learn more but it would mean leaving behind so much. Your home, any family, all your books. The sea would swallow them if we took on water and I would not want that for any of your texts.
I leave you time to think about the options presented to you. Upon reading this I will likely have already embarked out to sea again but I leave you this below so you may send messages to me. Texting is still hard for me so forgive me if I struggle with it. Also, I have rented out this penthouse so that you may bring any of your things from home here. Treat it as a second home if you are serious about leaving. You would have to leave that place behind.
Or you can leave what has happened between us as a distant dream, or nightmare. You can choose to never speak to me again and I would understand. It is rare that I come across someone willing to learn about me to such lengths. I appreciate your kindness though I know not how to pay it forward.
I bid thee well,
Ankor’
