Baron's (Boot Hill Buzzard) father Avery Buzzard had turned to gambling after he and his family struggled financially, wishing there were easier ways to buy the things they really needed and keep food on the table and shelter above their heads, and went inside the saloon to see what would happen when he accidentally found a gold nugget or dollar on the floor, and even though the others were reluctant in letting the "buzzard farm boy" play with them, but decided to test Avery and see how much he had it in him to play with the lumberjacks, miners, cowboys, and politics. For Avery, he seemed almost nervous about losing the money he found, but chose to hide it from the ones he was playing either poker or blackjack with when asked to make his move, and by luck, Avery somehow managed to win his first game and the money, which left him excited to see that he finally got a "raise" and would tell the good news to his wife. But unless she was against him gambling in a place like the saloon where more than just simple trouble was to start, Avery could always tell her that one of his relatives struck rich and decided to loan them what was needed. But was that lie necessary?
