When Sable wasn't plotting petty revenge against Nisha Nyx for sleeping with her boyfriend (sorry, make that ex-boyfriend), she had to find other ways to spend time.

Class took up a significant chunk, of course, And she shouldn't forget to sleep. But her friend group had, in hindsight, been more her ex-boyfriend's friend group. When she dumped him, those friends decided they needed to choose between him and her and they chose him.

She'd never been the best at making friends. Maybe she should make friends with her dorm neighbors but she was flanked on either side by a an incredibly devious seeming mouse and a sleepy sheep.

So to fill up some of the howling void of her social life and to earn some spending money, Sable got a part-time job at the campus bookstore.

She considered trying to make friends with the other bookstore girl who tended to work the same hours as her, but the panda seemed intensely disinterested in socializing. Plus, she always seemed to be in a hurry.

But the bookstore brought another kind of opportunity to Sable.

The manager needed one of the part-timers to record some snippets of featured books to put on the website and since the panda had run off the instant her shift ended, the job fell to Sable.

She didn't think much of it. But those recordings got a surprisingly good response.

Apparently she had a voice for radio.

Sable eventually decided to start streaming as a side hustle, just reading things into a microphone in a good voice for the internet. She even started reading erotica for paying subscribers who liked to hear a goth mouse say rude words.

(The hard part was not ruining her mystique by laughing at some of the prose)

So she didn't have many or any friends at college. So what!

She had two sources of income and a fan following on the internet! That's almost similar!
