__________________________________________________Kheo's been acting strange lately. Not everyone noticed, nor even cared. But specially for Tau, seeing his father disappear for days without even a goodbye, only to come spend long nights in private with his mother once he came back, was something that he couldn't simply let slip away.
Azila was also aware of this. The siblings had tried very hard to uncover what was going on, but it was impossible to even get a hint of what their parents were discussing.
Did these private matters had to be treated with that much secrecy?
Fahari was also reluctant to speak a word (even she disappeared with Kheo once, although Jana and Maua took perfectly care of the pride as if nothing happened). This was too much for Tau. What was going on? The day he finally decided to have a word with his father, it was actually Kheo the one who surprised him.
"You're coming with me today" his father stated, leaving his child speechless.
The sun had begun to rise when father and son parted, only under Fahari's watch.
And they had walked long before Tau asked, only after seeing they were geting close to the limits of their territory.
"Father, what is all this? What is happening? You've been absent for days and-"
The king laughed. He didn't stop the march but turned to see his son with a loving gaze.
"As a future king it's your duty to care about your pride, but don't rush things ahead of time. Your mother and I had to make an important desition, you see" and he turned back to the limits of their territory, sniffing the air before crossing it. He knew there were no dangers to worry about, but this time he had his son with him and couldn't let his guard down. "We've found we have neighbours! Back in the day when I was a cub, our pride had various neighbours we were in good terms with. It is important to have alliances after all".
"Are they good lions?" the prince was cautious. It would be the first time he'd see lions from another pride, and was not sure what to expect. Also, he was trying his hardest not to look scared.
"They are my, son. Just a family like we are. And as the heir of our pride, you must be in good terms with them too".
"Does mom know this?" Although his head was up, Tau was constantly gazing back to his far away home.
"She's come met them in person as well. Also, she was the one who let me bring you. You know, I'm going to need my son's help from now on"
And he let out a long roar, announcing his presence. Not always he'd seen his father roar, but a shiver crossed his body once he heard another roar in return, and saw some silouettes emerging in the distance.
