When RPG fans think of the name Cait Sith, this kitty probably isn't the one to come to mind. Still, SMT's swordkitty before Morgana was way too cute to pass up! (I know Ose exists, but you got to admit, the similarities are there.) I think I might be the first to have Cait Sith hypnotized; hopefully I'm not the last!
Somewhere outside the Fairy Village, a Cait Sith hopped out of a tree hollow. The sword-wielding cat sighed in disappointment; his food wasn't there either. Yesterday had been a triumph; he had swiped countless fish from the stream, more than he could ever hope to eat in one sitting. With the help of Jack Frost, he had set many of the fish aside in a tree hollow, with plenty of ice cubes to keep them fresh for another day. He'd thought the plan was clever, but the ice and fish left no room for him, and so he had spent the night in a different tree hollow.
And now, for the life of him, he couldn't find the tree with the fish, and neither could Jack Frost. He supposed that was a fair price to pay for his kingdom; as far as complaints went, not knowing which of your many homes you had left your treasured possessions in wasn't a bad one.
It was still an annoying one, though.
Cait Sith was snapped from his thoughts by a tap on his shoulder. The fairy cat turned around to find himself face to face with a massive snake. Leaping back in surprise, he drew his sword; he wanted to find a meal, not be one! The snake reassured him, he meant no harm; his name was Kaa, and he couldn't help but notice the cat seemed to be looking for something. Cait Sith explained his search, and Kaa hissed in sympathy; he hated to lose his treasures as well. His curiosity peaked, the cat asked: what sort of treasures did a snake have? Kaa chuckled and said he'd be glad to show him. But first, he'd need him to put the sword away. Cait Sith complied, and Kaa told him; his eyes were his treasures. If he wanted to see what made them so special, he'd need to look into them.
Kaa's eyes burst into color, and the feline stared in awe, his jaw dropping at the sight of the beautiful, captivating swirls before him. Ring after ring flowed through the snakes eyes, and Cait Sith drank up every one of them, wanting nothing more than to keep staring, his thoughts replaced by blissful warmth. Kaa called him closer, and Cait Sith obeyed, a smile creeping up on his face as his vision filled with colors and his body was wrapped in coils. With a smirk, the snake spoke, and Cait Sith purred at the words: how he was a good kitty, how good kitties listened to their masters, how the spirals had sworn him to the snake's service, how he would provide anything for his master - food, entertainment, protection, anything - and how in return his master would take up the burden of thinking for his good kitty, and cherish him with coils and colors.
Cait Sith was practically drooling in delight; caressed by coils, controlled by colors? He couldn't ask for a better life! Gleefully meowing his assent, a swift tug on the neck sent the swordcat into spiral-filled bliss as a PING! rang out in his head. Staring off into space with the goofiest of grins, Cait Sith had never been happier.
Kaa smirked at the cat caught up to his head in coils; some creatures were so easy. He hadn't lied about doing him no harm; those fish he'd found in a tree hollow had filled him up. Cait Sith wouldn't be a meal anytime soon. Instead, he'd be a cute little pet, ready to lure a meal, play with his master, protect against threats, and so much more on a moment's notice!
Training him was going to be fun.
