- Having a companion/partner is a requirement for gaining a permit, usually a regular paladin.
- Grandmistresses might be exempt from this rule, though they can request any gray paladin or their partners as companion on a case-by-case basis.
- An oath is required to abstain from the avenger/vigilante practices found on dark paladins, companions are meant to support them in keeping this oath.
- Gray Paladins keep their supernatural boons, such as advanced perception and deduction abilities
- Gray Paladins keep their flaws, such as insomnia, requiring them to meditate to substitute sleep and sudden bursts of aggression, which now must be handled with care

- Julienne can manipulate Delestras tele-empathic field, the 'vortex', in her near vincinity
- She can amplify and dampen the effects
- She can change direct the flow of emotions
- She can change the bias of emotions being transfered between persons
- Julienne generates her own vortex when on worlds without a comparable effect
- She does not seem to have classic kitsune foxfires, however the blades she generates might be her representation of foxfire
- Her magic blades can block physical objects but do not cut living matter, instead applies paralysis to peripheral nerves
- Julienne can choose the severity and duration of paralysis applied this way.
- Equally skilled with physical blades and other martial weapons, but prefers her magic blades, as she wants to avoid permanent damage, though there have been exceptions.
