I has been proven right again about my silent thoughts about this subject yesterday i was looking at the last page thinking she HAS to have it to were they ether couldn't destroy thing or it self repairs but ya i was right they cant break things. Smart little ol alex (or big ol alex :) )
Something about this comic has left me feeling off, and now that Alex has appeared in person, I think I've figured it out: I'mma be honest, her character isn't endearing her to me at all.
Alex claims she's "not doing these experiments without precautions", yet she roped the Galar starters into trying her drinks without informing them of the effects they would have, essentially forcing this on them without their consent. Additionally, Alex made these two grow without having any backup plan sans the city shield in case things went wrong - particularly anything to reverse the growth effect - and while you may argue the drinks themselves went fine, Salacia ended up having a panic attack from the sheer growth; hurting the mental state of someone she doesn't even know for the sake of her own desire to grow seems super-iffy. Not to mention Alex has Basil, a friend who I don't think would've been averse to trying the drinks out for her in their place.
It's possible I'm overthinking this - assuming we're hastening towards an "all's well that ends well" conclusion and all that - but while you've done a great job of making me feel bad for Salacia and I respect that, it's come at the cost of not having any faith in Alex as a character; she's just come off as incredibly callous and uncaring about the people she's roped into her charades.

Think you might feel that way cause of how care-free she's being but that is probably cause she has most of it planned out. Most likely the protection aura was made because of a past growth scheme. She to ME seems like a mad scientist with a small amount of caring for at least the littles that are not the ones growing from her creations.
Thinking about Basil, you have a good point, Alex is being all mean making others so big using them for her experiments without tell them about the posible really big effects, the only good thing is the aura to protect the cities.
but still, the poor little ones dont wanna think what would happen if that drink got shared with the wrong creatures, or for this case how someone who didnt want to be so big ended so big for alex reasons. @.@

Nah, you're right.
Alex gets rather careless with her size shenanigans. She's more of a grower than a shrinker (is why she has no shrinking methods), although all her experiments wear off at some point. She likes to be big, and she wants other pokemon to experience the joy of growing (might explain why she didn't give Basil the drink since he already grew big with Maxi Candies in the last comic), sometimes even pranking them into her shenanigans.
But sometimes, she doesn't know when she crosses the line (like here) because she gets way too invested. Solana screaming at her might helped her realize that she made a mistake.
(Another thing, on a not so serious note: I made Alex somewhat of a a "kink character", meaning I have an excuse to draw big pokemon in my "Pokémon universe". So that explains why she mostly only go for growth) 😜😇

I'm genuinely glad that I warranted a response and didn't just come off as an angry ranter, because that stream of consciousness post definitely felt like it wasn't going to be responded to amiably (if at all). Ever since Solana first drank the beverage I've had an awkward feeling in my stomach whenever I looked at each new page in this comic, so it's good to get a bit of closure on it from the author himself.
(And yeah, from an out-of-story perspective, obviously Alex is just there for the fetish lol. It's just her portrayal in-story irritated and confused me because it seemed like she was written to be likeable - judging from the reactions of others to her on-panel debut in this comic - but she wasn't coming off as that to me based on her actions)
