A commission for an upcoming wedding. The couple were on a carriage ride at... Busch Gardens? I think. Anyway, yes, it was just after sunset when Drew stopped the carriage and proposed to Lizzy by this very tree. This is a meld of four different photo references, plus quite a few artistic liberties. It is *not* fun to change the lighting from daylight to dusk when using a ref.
I cut the deadline really close on this one. I actually started this about a month ago, but have been so burned out from work, life, and getting ready for the con. I need a day off! ;_;
After scanning this and seeing how my scanner royally screws my colors, I can spot about a billion mistakes with this one. *headdesk* But... it's mostly done. I see two spots I need to touch up. Could be better, could be worse. I'm kinda satisfied, but really wish I had more time to monkey with the shading.

Woah O.O
This one is gorgeous! Looks like it's all coloured with markers, eh?
And you did a lot better at the shading/lighting that I would have done...That's one thing I still have problems with...if I were to do a sunset drawing, I still don't know how colour characters (and backgrounds) to really fit with the lighting, so you're ahead of me on that ;)
Very very prettiful! =D

How charmingly Romantic. Despite the trials this piece put you through, I feel you efforts were well worth it. I especially like the colors, and the "Watercolory" effect. I also like the detailing you put in the piece. One can tell at a glance that this image took some time and effort to finish.
