A semi-aquatic sentient species of drake that nest on ice shelves. While awkward on land, they are quite graceful and quick in the water, similar to penguins or seals. Males have a throat flap, currently on display in the specimen shown here. Their countershaded coloration allows them to avoid larger predators from above and below, while the facial markings allow others of their kind to more easily identify one another. Their bodies are covered in waterproof, iridescent feathers, with a few longer ones at the sternum.

They have been observed sliding on their bellies.
Some biologists may argue that they are closer to wyverns, because the forelimbs resemble wings more than legs. The debate has resulted in fisticuffs before.
