Description: Petty Officer Myshkaya is a Native Alaskan with ties to both the Inupiaq and Athabascan people. Although she is unusually short for a 26th century human, Petty Officer Myshkaya has used her diminutive stature to good advantage on numerous occasions.

Comments: Tica, as her friends call her, is a distant relative of HMC Mindy Sorrel (on the human side of her 20th great grandparents, Willie and Miki, from "Family Tails"). She was born in Fairbanks and raised in Denyeet, Alaska. Tica has a quiet cheerfulness about her and can usually find something good in most situations.

Additional Notes: Ticasuk means "Possessing the treasure of knowledge"; Mysh' is "mouse" in Russian, and zhenskaya mysh' is "female mouse" - by combining the two, I created Tica's last name of Myshkaya.

Tica will appear in a future book in the series.

I drew the initial positioning sketch on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of Georgia-Pacific's "Everyday Copy & Print" paper, 20-lb, 92 brightness. I scanned the sketch at 600 dpi and then did the digital painting in Corel Paintshop Pro 2021 (upgraded to v. 2022 while working on this portrait).
