Walter Wisniewski is head of the Natural Sciences department at Waldren College. This rhino hired on as a Professor of Geology the year after Hamilton Winograd began working at the school. The two didn’t let their rivalry for the department head post interfere with their friendship. That friendship continued even after Hamilton was released from his position.
Walter is a career bachelor who enjoys the company of one particular lady, Debbie. The two of them have dated for many years, but so far show no signs of getting hitched. They enjoy annual summer field trips together in which they take in the wonders of nature by day and a different kind of wonder by night. Walter is unashamed to admit that, “Geologists love to get their rocks off.”

And now, if I may, I'd like to (again) shamelessly promote the books... ;)
Seriously though, if you qualify for Adult-rated reading and you enjoy well-told stories, with relatable characters living relatable lives in a delightful anthro-based world, then I enthusiastically recommend Ursus' "Long Division" series. Collect them all!

Blast from a past from my geography classes back in Secondary School! None of the teachers were cool enough to bother bringing even cheap granite for us to look at; I had to go collect my own x3
Ham and Walter sure got plenty of their rocks off in their time X3! The summer field trips Walter took sounded up in the alley of a crossover of him meeting Ham and John on their own lodge trip to Crater Lake Lodge.

If you recall, Tracy was impressed that Hamilton had actual rock samples in his office.
Now you’ve got me thinking. Maybe I need to write a story in which Hamilton and Walter arrange for a “double-date” field trip with Ham and John in one tent, Walter and Debbie in another.
